Sibylle
Groene uses iron sheet cutoffs and oxidation. The work
is created in an almost laboratory-like setting. Sibylle manipulates
the canvases, paper and other media through layering, wrapping and
folding them around the sheet metal. Then she exposes this arrangement,
like a temporary installation, to the elements in order to start the
natural process of corrosion. The metal transfers its traces onto the
cloth or paper as direct reproduction, facet, mirror image or whole
from the original form. The transformation of the material thereby
creates its own language apart from the original form. In addition,
Sibylle often layers other media such as tar, ink or paint over these
oxidations. Image Gallery Sibylle Groene's Web Site | |||
